TOEIC Listening and Reading Test

In February 2021, I took the TOEIC Listening and Reading Test (hereinafter referred to as ‘L and R’).The test center was at Nihonbashi-Tomizawa-chō in Chūō Ward, Tōkyō. This area has a lot of modern beautiful buildings. If today was weekday, there would be a lot of businessmen and businesswomen in this area. But today was Sunday, so there were few people.

This is my second TOEIC. My first was a TOEIC Speaking and Writing test (hereinafter referred to as ‘S and W’). If Japanese people say TOEIC, it usually means L and R. I think that there are few people who take S and W. There are a lot of textbooks about L and R. However, there are few textbook about S and W. There are about two books.

I arrived at a beautiful big building with the test center about an hour earlier than the reception time. When it was time for reception, I entered the building. There were a lot of people who were waiting in the lobby. Soon, the staff told us to take the elevator to the second floor where there is the test center. By the time I finished the reception process and took my seat, I noticed that there were only men.

There was an explanation and Listening test audio confirmation before the test started. For the Listening test, I was thinking that I would wear a headset, actually they played the audio throughout the test center.

The speaking test is about 45 minutes, and the writing test is 75 minutes. The test started from the Listening test. The audio questions were played one after another, so I answered without rest. Next was the Writing test. There were a lot of question, so I continued to answer without rest. Anyway, it was hard to keep answering without resting for 2 hours.

At the time of writing this article, I don’t have the test results.
