Ueno Tōshōgū Peony Garden
I went to Ueno Park
Today was very cold and windy but sunny. I went to Ueno Park after a long time. Renovation works were taking place everywhere in Ueno station and Ueno Park. Ueno is changing little by little.
Today, I went to Ueno Tōshōgū Peony Garden. I exited the station by the Park Exit and I walked straight ahead between Tōkyō Metropolitan Festival hall and The National Museum of Western Art.
Then Ueno Zoo came into view I was surprised to see that the main gate had moved. In addition, I was surprised that the small theme park across from the gate was gone. The Monument of General Grant’s Memo next to it became more visible. Ueno Tōshōgū shrine is behind it and I could see the shrine’s gate (Torii) so I went to see to Peonies.
The Garden
I went to see peonies to Ueno Tōshōgū Peony Garden. It was opened in 1980 to commemorate Japan and China’s friendship. This winter the Peony Garden is open from January 1 to February 17, 2020.
I paid 700 yen and entered the Peony Garden. There were many beautiful peonies in the garden and there were a few different flowers, too. For example, there were some plum blossoms in bloom and it smelled good. The five-storied pagoda was clearly visible from the garden and it was very good to see it with the flowers. I took a lot of pictures. It was very fun.
