The Ruins of Kiji-bashi-mon Gate and a Mysterious Structure

Kiji-bashi-mon Gate once stood between Take-bashi-mon Gate and Shimizu-mon Gate. Today, the surrounding area is developed with public roads and expressways, and no clear traces of the gate remain.
However, there is one thing that catches the eye. Near the former gate site, something that looks like Edo-period stone walls can still be seen. Taking a closer look, it appears to be some kind of structure. When we walk around to the back, we can see what looks like a door, suggesting that something is inside. It is tempting to think that this structure reused the stone walls of the old Kiji-bashi-mon Gate, but its exact relationship to the gate is unknown. But, there are some markings on the stones, so it seems certain that the stone wall was rebuilt from the Edo period.
